TURKEY'S JULY EXPORT UNIT VALUE INDEX DOWN BY 3.7%

As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index decreased by 3.7% in July, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said on Wednesday.  In the same month, compared to July 2018, the index for food, beverages, and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 0.8%, 7.2%, 10.5% and 4%, respectively.
 
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index decreased by 3.9% in July. The index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) decreased by 7.4%, 8.6%, 7.2% and 2%, respectively.
 
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 146.9 in June 2019, increased by 13.9%, to 167.3 in July 2019. The calendar-adjusted export volume index which was 154.4 in July 2018, increased by 8.1%, to 166.9 in July 2019. The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 116.9 in June 2019, increased by 6.1%, to 124 in July 2019. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 136.9 in July 2018, decreased by 4.9%, to 130.2 in July 2019.
 
Terms of trade are calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 103.3 in July 2018, it increased by 0.2 points to 103.5 in July 2019.
